Eeyore's Birthday

Since 2012, Khunya has documented the one-day annual festival of Eeyore's Birthday—a quintessentially Austin tradition named after A.A. Milne's character from Winnie-the-Pooh. Sage and weed waft through the air, the pounding of drum circles and tribal chants are ever present, and the warm feeling of love and acceptance are alive through everyone that walks the grass of Pease Park. It is one of the oldest living festivals in Austin and is cherished by many. It's ability to survive (as a free festival, no less) in a city that has seen rapid growth is a testament to the magic Eeyore's Birthday evokes across everyone who enters.
